Cutting Tang Band 5.25″ subwoofers to fit
OEM/stock subwoofer enclosure in the 1990-1999 Toyota MR2
Tools needed
* Metal snips/sheers able to cut at least 16 guage steel (or thicker)
Notes
Some people choose to do the cutting with a dremel. Although you can easily perform the cutting with a dremel tool using a cutoff wheel, we recommend against this practice because the heat caused by cutting with the dremel may damage the adhesive that holds the cone of the subwoofer to the metal casing.
(1) Carefully remove your subwoofer from the packaging. Make sure to use a work area that you can easily vacuum up after you are done
(2) Carefully examine the pictures below. Note where you will be cutting and start with the cutting. If you are not sure, cut less to begin with, you can always cut more material off later if needed.
(3) Test fit your new Tang Band subwoofer into the enclosure to make sure it fits without having to force it in. If there are any areas with extra material, mark them and trim accordingly.
Wire it up and bolt everything back in. That’s it. You’re all done and now you get to enjoy your new Tang Band subwoofer and all the great bass it can provide.
